MOUTAIN FLYING
With some moutain rated instructors, ALLINTAIR is not always satisfied with the hills of the Parisian area and has been setting up summer moutain flight training sessions for many years. The aim is not to gain mountain ratings or site ones, but to improve one's flying skills by challenging requirements and constraints such as : mountain landing and taking off techniques, mountain aerology, cross-mountains, ... all by enjoying flying in a unique lanscape of mountain scenery. There are more and more mountain fields, especially in the South of the Alps. You will rediscover the pleasures of both of free flying and mountain conviviality.
As last year, the training session took place during a fortnight in the Alpe d'Huez with Socatas' Rallye 150 hp equipped with exhaust silencers. The welcome at the Alpe d'Huez is always a mixture of sympathy and proficiency. Lets thank Afis agent and the local administration.
About twenty pilots came when it suited them, during one or several days with or without spouse/husband and children. The lodging takes place in a homely hotel of the resort (Le Castillan) and cheerfulness dominates relaxation as well as effort.
The flights take place once in the morning and once in the afternoon, each plane flying away with two or three pilots and one instructor to go and visit a great number of mountain airfields : Courchevel, Méribel, La Motte Chalancon, Faucon, Nossage, Mens, Valloire, Sollières, Saint-Roch Mayères, ... Of course pilots change seats onthe ground!
We set up a quiz for our pilots. They were supposed to recognize spots or landmarks on pictures. It's an interesting exercise. Will you have a try ?
