You may take a first flight without any former inscription. This first contact without committing yourself will allow you to know better our Club and the instructors.
To get a French "Brevet de Base" (you must be over 15 years of age), you will be required to have at least :
The minimum flying hours required to get the Private Pilot License (PPL) is of
which means a total of 45 hours. You must be over 17 years of age.
An appropriate medical certificate by a DGAC authorised physician is required (At Allintair, we do not ask it for the very first flights).
However, the average time taken is more like 50 to 60 hours, and will of course increase when you are older (however, there is no age limit and one of our student is proud of being 90 years old!). The availability of a flight trainer (usually said "sim") FRASCA 141 gives to the instructors a versatile tool for basic pilotage without visual references and radio-navigation.
The frequency of the lessons (of about one hour for the very first lessons to reach 1h30 to 1h45 after) must be quite regular to have a good progression. Flying once a week is good, twice is a maximum. On the other hand, appointements less than once a fortnight do not enable you to progress efficiently, all the more than the weather will not always be good enough for you to fly!
The lessons take place in Toussus and during flights to Etampes, so you will quickly learn the basis of cross country and how to join the circuits of other controlled airfields. In Etampes, you also have a grass strip and a concrete runway which is good for a thorough training.
The instructors (The chief pilote is full time and others instructors come on request) ensure your training according to a well proven method consisting in ground teaching (free of charge) and in practical lessons (on Rallye aircraft till the French "Brevet de Base" or private Pilot Licence). Lessons are scheduled every two hours (included during lunchtime) to allow both briefings and debriefings.
